Retention, Healthcare Access, and Disease Burden among Migrants in Thailand: an Analysis of M-FUND (the Migrant Fund) – Community-based Health Access Scheme Database

This study aims to document migrant healthcare utilization and health seeking behaviour when provided access to care through M-FUND. The analysis of M-FUND database will provide a detailed description of participants (M-FUND members) profiles, document their retention in the M-FUND, map their healthcare access patterns, and evaluate disease burden from heathcare-provider reported data regarding medical events covered by M-FUND.

Problématique:

Of the 281 million international migrants worldwide, 169 million migrant workers contribute fully to the economies of their host and home countries. However, migrant workers are often excluded from social protection schemes. In Thailand, out of 4-5 million migrants, an estimated 1 to 2 millions are undocumented.

Méthode :

Retrospective analysis of a health claims database, including member socio-demographic characteristics, health events covered by the M-FUND, and premium payment history. The database includes over 110 000 outpatient consults and over 20 000 inpatient admissions for a total of 40 000 active and 60 000 inactive members.
