Certificat d'Etudes Supérieures Universitaires/Postgraduate Certificate - Artificial Intelligence Programming in Python (CESU AIPro)

Training programme overview

General aims

The application of artificial intelligence -AI- to medicine can contribute to the improvement of population health. This course focuses on artificial intelligence methods programming. It aims to acquire knowledge in the field of artificial intelligence to apply it to the health field by combining algorithmic and modelling knowledge.

Learning objectives

This course is designed for the students to gain knowledge on the following subjects:

  • Artificial intelligence programs and tools for health; artificial intelligence algorithms and methods;
  • Programming in Python.

Core competencies

Throughout this course the students are expected to acquire the following competencies:

  • Knowing how to program in Python;
  • Knowing how to implement analyses using artificial intelligence methods using programs in Python;
  • Knowing how to interpret the obtained results and understanding their possible limitations.

This postgraduate certificate PGCert/CESU participates in the training of the Doctoral School (ED) of Biomedical Research (659). Financial support by the ED for a limited number of PhD students enrolling in the 2nd or 3rd year of their thesis.

Training opportunities

In the case where a student who has validated this PGCert/CESU applies for the PGDip/DESU AI4PH (Artificial Intelligence for Public Health, training officer: Pr Roch Giorgi), or for the Master 2 AI4PH (Artificial Intelligence for Public Health, training officers: De Jean-Charles Dufour, Pr Roch Giorgi), specialization of the Master’s degree in Public Health (training officers: Pr Stéphanie Gentile, Pr Roch Giorgi), the latter would capitalise only those teaching units for which he/she would have obtained a mark ≥ 10 (all individually validated TU are accredited).

Student Testimonials

SESSTIM gives a voice to its former students in a video series called “Alumni Voices.” The students interviewed have the opportunity to share their experiences with the various programs offered by SESSTIM.

There are many advantages. First of all, I’d say the quality of the instruction, the fact that you can really interact with the professors, and the fact that there’s a lot of hands-on practice, which means we’re really given the tools we need, because we all come from slightly different fields, it really gives us the tools to adapt to our research.
And finally, I’d also mention how it fits with pursuing a PhD on the side; you don’t really feel the distance because there’s such a close relationship with the professors that if you have questions, you get a pretty quick response right away.
