The International Associated Laboratory aims to further the following complementary objectives:

    - To further the development of biomedical research relative to Social Sciences, Health Policy and Public Health;

    - To further exchanges between researchers and, possibly, members of the technical and administrative staffs.

This Joint Research Program is carried out by Pr Roch Giorgi (SESSTIM, INSERM/IRD/AMU, Marseille, France) and Pr Ronald Bayer (Department of Sociomedical Sciences, Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, New York, United-States).

Research question:

The Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University, & SESSTIM Aix-Marseille University/INSERM/IRD Research Unit seeks to build a collaborative research relationship between social scientists at Columbia University and in the only joint INSERM unit devoted to social sciences applied to health outside the Paris region.

The specific projects are diverse but share a common goal of extending and strengthening scientific and educational relationships between the parties, in order to contribute to research on determinants and impacts of public health, social and environmental policies affecting population health.

Method:

To conduct joint research projects on specifics themes, and to increase scientific collaborations by training by research.

Research prospects:

Strengthening of scientific and educational relationships.
