TU PHS-PHRM - Patient’s perceptual health measurement and narrative-based medicine

Objective

To understand the contribution of the patient knowledge and experience to the understanding of care pathways in order to mobilize them in artificial intelligence models.

Knowledge to be acquired

Acquire the basic of narrative-based medicine and the literature on patients’ health perception in public health and social sciences including social psychology.

Skills to be acquired

Understand the issues, needs, implications of narrative-based medicine for public health. Know how to integrate the patient’s perspective into artificial intelligence methods to address a public health problem. Understand how to analyze the influence of social variables in narrative discourses about health.

  • Introduction to patient’s perspective literature.
  • Narrative-based medicine approach and tools.
  • Introduction to methods of patient’s perceptual health measurement.
  • Interests and principles of patient perspective in artificial intelligence.
  • Implementation on example of public health issue.
  • Lexicometric treatments of narrative discourses and content thematic analyses: cues for considering psychosocial differences.

Pedagogical method

Courses on-line by NetConference, distance mentoring over the Internet.

Pre-requisite

Knowledge of computer use, word processing, computer presentation tools.

Assessment of knowledge

A single examination is organised, in accordance with the Aix Marseille University rule.

For this single session, the assessment of knowledge of this teaching unit is based on:

  • Continuous assessment of knowledge with various homework assignments, tests and exercises. This continuous assessment will have a coefficient of 2 in the final mark.
  • An oral examination. This exam will have a coefficient of 3 in the final grade. A personal convocation will be sent by e-mail to each student.

To validate a UE, it is necessary to obtain a mark ≥ 10.

To validate the DESU, a single final mark ≥ 10 must be obtained, knowing that there is no compensation between the UEs.
